Duo Joanna Sachryn & Pablo Amorós

It is as if they had been waiting for each other. Since their first concert together at Musika Musica Bilbao in 2022, it seems natural for them to play together, sharing their vision and love of sound. They are united by their curiosity about the freedom behind the musical notation. Their musical understanding of music as language and sound palette inspires them to travel.

Paysage Intime

The program is named after a piece dedicated to Joanna by Tomasz Skweres.
There is a clear reference to nature in his composition. But this is not only a picture of nature, but also of inner landscapes. Like the moment when both instruments merge into one musical organism – here the thought of understanding oneself as part of nature comes to mind. This is not only a picture of nature but also of inner landscapes. The scenic and inner journeys.

  • Enrique Granados – Intermezzo from “Goyescas”
  • Nadia Boulanger – Three pieces for Cello and Piano
  • Maurice Ravel – Pièce en forme de Habanera
  • Gabriel Fauré – Sicilienne op. 78 and Berceuse op. 16 for cello and piano
  • Tomasz Skweres – Paysage Intime for Cello and Piano(dedicated to Joanna Sachryn)
  • Antonin Dvořák – Waldesruhe
  • Dmitri Shostakovich – Adagio, Romance, Waltz of the Spring
  • Leoš Janáček – Pohádka
  • Manuel de Falla – Suite Populaire Espagnole for cello and piano

Cello auf Abwegen

Walter A. Schreiber – speaker

With this program, Joanna embarks on a musical journey around the world together with Walter Schreiber, taking the audience from Bach and Duport to Reger and Henze. On her travels, she is not only fascinated by countries, cultures, and languages, but also by folk songs. A small selection of these appears in the program as well, culminating in the highly virtuosic, stylized Polish Caprice by the most important Polish female composer of the 20th century – Grażyna Bacewicz.

In this program, the passionate lover of words reveals a very special side of himself. Humorous, entertaining, and intriguing anecdotes from the lives of cellists — or even of a Stradivarius cello — presented by Walter Schreiber, evoke both wonder and laughter among the audience.

they also possess a musical vein. Not to take classical music too seriously…”

Without ifs and buts, if the cellists are the Ensemble 5+1.”
